Montréal: Une ville à l'image du monde
Subject
Abstract
d'équité, de non-discrimination et de nonexclusion;
à la prise en compte des besoins
des citoyens et citoyennes de toutes
origines dans la planification des services;
In a context of globalization, cosmopolitanism has become a fundamental and irrevocable characteristic of urban environments. It is clear that the future of Montreal is based on this cosmopolitanism. That is why municipal administration has, for more than a decade, intervened more often regarding integration of new arrivals, management of diversity, and intercultural rapprochement. Over the course of the last year, we have determined four management targets that we regard as the bases of intervention for the next three years. These targets concern the reception of new arrivals; application of the principles of equity, nondiscrimination and non-exclusion; consideration of the needs of citizens of all origins when planning services; and, finally, utilization of the potential inherent in Montreal's ethno-cultural diversity.
