This silent, black & white film is a rare film on a unique East Indian family owned and operated lumber company in the mid Vancouver Island region. The 1st segment (11 min.) shows some of the settlement at Paldi (in the Cowichan Valley), the saw mill, logging operations and rail construction in the Hill 60 area. The 2nd segment (9 min.) shows a later period of 1943 at McKay Lake, closer to Nanaimo. Again the focus is on logging, sawmill operations as well as the camp at the lake. 1st segment originally produced in late 1920's or early 1930's; 2nd segment produced in 1943.
