[Pre-print] Smart Growth Canada Network develops innovative online courses for municipalities
Subject
Abstract
Over the last couple of years, a new organization has emerged with direct relevance to municipal governments, their elected officials and employees. Smart Growth Canada Network (SGCN) was initially established in 2003 as a vehicle for providing non-profit organizations with the resources to press for socially and environmentally responsible forms of development. The Network has since broadened its base and refined its mandate to one of providing educational services to all sectors: municipalities, senior governments, professionals, the development community, and non-profits. After a national meeting was held in Ottawa in 2005, it was decided that a specific focus for the organization would be to develop a suite of online courses on various aspects of smart growth.
