Instructional coaching is a form of professional learning that allows the educator to have authority and ownership over their own professional development. It provides learning that is relevant to their specific needs, is collaborative, ongoing, and embedded in the work they do in the classroom and with the students. It emphasizes the teacher as the classroom expert, with the coach helping to move the teacher toward their self-developed goal. This project explores school-based instructional coaching as a form of job-embedded professional learning for educators. The project examines existing models of instructional coaching to combine relevant and effective practices into a convenient guide. This guide that may act as a starting point for schools to begin their own instructional coaching program with their educators.
