Full major project fostering student agency for a high-stakes future
Subject
Abstract
This major project targets the attributes of Student Agency according to the OECD (2019) definition: students must be able to think critically, act ethically and be able to continually innovate themselves in order to be ready for the workforce of the future. The author investigated critical thinking, ethical responsibility, and metacognition through experiential learning situations as a way of building student agency within the intermediate classroom. This project then applied this best practice theory to build three teacher workshops that will help students to become student agents and develop a lifelong love of learning. Through these workshops, teachers will develop strategies and supports to build student agency, teacher agency, and family agency.
