Abstract
Audio recording and transcript of Robert Ross Loudon's 1979 interview with Bernard McNicholl for the Coal Tyee History Project. Loudon describes various coal mining jobs he had in the Extension, Protection Island, and #10 Mines. He talks about mining equipment and how mules were used in the mines. He recalls participating in the "Bologna Strike" with other South Wellington #10 miners, and he talks about an explosion that happened in the #10 in 1940. Loudon also shares his memories and impressions of the 1912-1914 Vancouver Island Coal Miner's Strike.
