Abstract
Audio recording of John (Jack) W. Hardcastle's 1968 presentation to the Nanaimo Historical Society in which he reflects on his life as a marine artist. Mr. Hardcastle gives details about his early years growing up in Whitby, England, where his family was involved in the shipping industry. He also tells several anecdotes about his immigration to Canada and his experiences as a marine artist, including the painting of several famous ships, including the Drumrock, the Cutty Sark, and the Hood.
