Abstract
Audio recording of Audrey Alexandra Brown's 1971 presentation to the Nanaimo Historical Society in which she gives a detailed account of her paternal grandfather, James Miller Brown. Miss Brown gives background information about her grandfather, including his early years and travels before his eventual settlement as a tailor in Nanaimo, B.C. She also recounts a story about the murder of one of her grandfather's neighbours outside of Nanaimo, James "Jimmy" Hamilton, and gives some information about her father, Joseph Miller Brown, a clockmaker and alderman in Nanaimo.
